Thousands of qualifying students will receive free school supplies, other services
DALLAS – Dallas Independent School District students will receive free school supplies and other services at the 15th Annual Mayor's Back to School Fair, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, in the Automobile and Centennial buildings, at Fair Park, 1010 First Ave.
At the free event, thousands of qualifying students will receive free school supplies and benefit from a variety of vision, dental and health screenings, free hair cuts, educational services and offerings from community resources. To qualify for free school supplies, children must be between 5 and 18 years old, attend a public school, live in the City of Dallas or attend a Dallas ISD school, and meet Federal Poverty Income guidelines. Families may pre-register for the free supplies at the final pre-fair event set for 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 30, at Cobb Field House, 1702 Robert B. Cullum Blvd.
Dallas ISD's Interim Superintendent of Schools Alan King and City of Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings will attend the event.
