The filing period for the Board of Education post for Trustee Districts 5 in the Dallas Independent School District opened today (Tuesday, May 26). The filing deadline is Wednesday, June 24.

The position, representing District 5 (East Oak Cliff and West Dallas), was left vacant following the death of former trustee Yvonne A. Ewell.

The Board of Education set the election for August 8.

To qualify, a candidate must (1) reside in the trustee district he/she hopes to represent for six months prior to the time of filing, (2) reside in the State of Texas for one year prior to the day of the election, (3) be a registered voter, and (4) be 18 years of age.
