19 Apr 1999

Dallas Independent School District administration will unveil an ambitious five-year plan designed to meet the challenges of the future of public education in the city. The district's Vision 2003-Five-Year Plan for Success will be unveiled Monday, April 26, during a ceremony at the Meyerson Symphony Center. The reception will be at 3 p.m.; the program begins at 4 p.m. Everyone who contributed to the creation of the plan, including school and community leaders, has been invited to attend the event.

"This visionary plan, which calls for academic and fiscal improvement, sets a bold course for Dallas schools and the community through the year 2003," said General Superintendent James H. Hughey. "The strength of this plan is that we involved as many stakeholders as possible in its creation. We're raising the bar for the staff and students of Dallas Independent School District."

Vision 2003 clearly defines the district's mission, sets goals which will impact the education system and will define goals in the areas of academics, school completion, technology, student well-being, parent/community participation, management, and district governance.
