Dallas Rotary Club to Honor Dallas Public School Teachers

14 Apr 2000

WHO:

The Rotary Club of Dallas will honor top teachers from the Dallas Independent School District with an awards luncheon.

WHEN:

Wednesday, April 19, 11:30 a.m. Union Station, 400 South Houston Street

OTHER:

Nominees for the award are solicited from all DISD schools with each advisory committee selecting the candidate submission. Winning recipients in the elementary, middle and high school categories each receive a cash ward of $2,000. The two runners-up in each category receive $250.

Tracy Rowlett of KTVT-Channel 11 TV in Dallas will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event. Each year, members of the Dallas Rotary Club evaluate Dallas teachers' performance and contributions. They select those whom they consider have demonstrated excellence in their profession by "going the extra mile."

"It takes the support of the community to achieve success in our schools," said General Superintendent Waldemar Rojas. "When teachers are recognized for going the extra mile, it helps to motivate and inspire them to continue their efforts and strive harder for success. We sincerely appreciate the recognition the Dallas Rotary Club gives our teachers and the continued support of the club's membership."
