District Volunteers Will Be Honored for Their Years of Service

WHAT:

The 31st Annual Partners in Education Recognition Program recognizes the contributions of district volunteers and partners and honors them for their dedication to furthering the educational opportunities of Dallas children.

"The success of the Dallas Independent School District depends in great part on the support of volunteer groups and individuals who contribute time and effort to district schools," said General Superintendent Dr. Waldemar Rojas.

Among the most significant awards to be presented at the event will be the 30-years-of-service award. This recognition will be awarded to 3 volunteers.

Five volunteers will receive the 25-years-of-service pins, and 14 volunteers are the recipients of the 20-years-of-service award.

WHEN:

At 10 a.m. Thursday, May 4, at the Great Hall, International Apparel Mart, 2300 Stemmons Frwy. The event's theme this year is "Texas Salute 2000."

WHO:

The volunteers who will be recognized have spent time tutoring and mentoring students, serving on advisory committees, coordinating events for school staff and students.

The DISD has 2,825 partners; and 27,430 volunteers who have contributed 705,635 hours of service this school year.
