Dallas Volunteers Contribute 705,635 Hours Of Service To Schools

Recognition Event To Be Held

The hard work and dedication of the 27,430 volunteers who have contributed in excess of 705,635 hours of service in district schools will be recognized at the 31st Annual Dallas Independent School District Partner/Volunteer Recognition program. The event begins at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 4, International Apparel Mart, Great Hall, 2300 Stemmons Frwy.

This year two volunteers—Norma Harris and Bessie Record—will be recognized for 30 years of service to Dallas schools. Five volunteers will receive awards for 25 years of service, and 14 volunteers for 20 years of service.

Several other commendations will be presented during the program, including the Superintendent's Award to Partnership for Arts, Culture and Education, and the Emmett Conrad Extra Mile Award to Presbyterian Healthcare System.

In addition to the volunteers, more than 2,825 partners, including businesses, civic groups and other agencies, will be recognized for their support to the education of children in Dallas schools. The winner of the Outstanding Business Partner Award (large business) is Exxon/Mobil. Ornelas & Associates will be recognized as Outstanding Business Partner in the small business category.
