Operating with a $1 billion dollar budget, DISD employs 18,613 employees including 10,000 teachers in 220 schools More Teachers Needed4 Aug 2000 DISD Hosts 2 More Teacher Recruitment Job Fairs, Aug. 8 and 10 After hiring 251 teachers at July's job fair, Dallas Independent School District plans two more teacher recruitment job fairs this month. DISD invites educators to attend its next two job fairs scheduled for Aug. 8 and 10. Both fairs will be held from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Cesar Chávez Learning Center, 1710 North Carroll. The district continues to offer special incentives to teachers who hold certificates in early childhood (PK-K), bilingual education, science, math and special education. The incentives include a $1,500 signing bonus to the first 1,000 teachers and stipends ranging from $500 to $3,000 depending on the teaching area. Recently, the Dallas school board approved $26 million in pay increase for its district employees. This allows DISD to offer teachers competitive salary packages. The average base teacher salary for the upcoming school year is $41,500. Beginning teachers salary starts at $33,000.
