In order to ease the confusion of the first days of classes, the DISD has set up a Parent Hotline to answer school-related concerns and questions from the community. Answers to frequently-asked questions can be found by calling (972) 925-KIDS (5437). The hotline will be in operation from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. August 14-15—the first two days of school; and 7:30 a.m. until noon, August 16-18. Bilingual Parent Hotline staff will answer questions in Spanish. Generally, most parents have questions regarding transportation, school hours and bus routes, how to obtain applications for free and reduced-price school meals and required immunizations. Other commonly-asked questions include information regarding attendance zones (which will determine the school in which a child is supposed to enroll) and qualifications for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten enrollment.
