Community Invited To Dedication Of Feliberto Martinez Media Center

7 Sep 2000

The media center at Eladio Martinez Learning Center will be dedicated Friday, September 15, at 9:30 a.m. The facility will now bear the name of long-time West Dallas resident Feliberto Martinez. The ribbon-cutting event honors a Family of Veterans in the Eagle Ford/Ledbetter community. The school is located at 4500 Bernal Dr.

After his mother's death in 1939, Feliberto and his brothers, Eladio (for whom the school is named), and Henry were determined to receive a good education and managed to earn a high school diploma from what was then the Dallas Technical High School. After serving the armed forces, Feliberto moved to Chicago to study chemistry and later back to Dallas to work in the lab for Portland Cement.

Martinez became very active in the community promoting parent participation in the PTA and tutoring children. He continues to be an active role model in the community, especially in the area of Ledbetter.
