The Human Resource Department of the Dallas Independent School District continues its year-round recruitment efforts by hosting two support staff job fairs. Recruiters are currently looking for teacher assistants, clerks and substitute teachers to help educate more than 162,000 schoolchildren.
The first job fair for support staff is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 9, at Thomas Jefferson High School, 4001 Walnut Hill Lane. The second job fair is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Dallas Independent School District Administration Building, 3700 Ross Avenue. The job fairs are open to the public. All successful candidates must pass a tuberculosis test and criminal background check.
Basic qualifications for teacher assistants and clerical positions include a high school diploma or equivalent; effective communications skills; and ability to work in a school environment. The district offers competitive salaries and benefits. Applicants interested in substitute teaching positions must have a college degree or 60 hours toward a degree. The daily pay rate for candidates with a valid teacher certificate starts at $90. For those candidates with a bachelor's degree who do not have a valid teacher certificate, the daily pay rate starts at $75. Candidates with a minimum of 60 earned college hours without a bachelor's degree start at $70 per day.
