The Dallas Independent School District and a group of teacher and school employee organizations have called a news conference at 4 p.m. Monday, November 13, in the Board Room of the School Administration Building, 3700 Ross Ave. The group is in support of a statewide health care plan for active and retired school employees.
"This is the number one public policy issue facing the Texas legislature," said Interim General Superintendent Robert Payton. "If we expect to recruit and retain quality individuals for our school district, we need to do what 20 other states have done and provide an affordable health insurance package to our employees."
Monday is the first day for pre-filing of bills for the 77th session in the Texas legislature.
