As the nation's eleventh largest school district, Dallas Independent School District serves more than 160,000 students who come from homes where 58 different languages are spoken. Operating with a $1 billion dollar budget, DISD employs 18,613 employees including 10,000 teachers in 220 schools.

Dallas Independent School District Teen School Board officers for the 2000-2001 school year were recently selected by their peers. This month's meeting is at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 16, in the Board Room, 3700 Ross Ave.
Teen School Board brings together senior class presidents from each district high school to present their issues and concerns. The idea was spearheaded by trustee Ron Price to provide students a communications tool to give input to the Board of Education.
Teen School Board members meet monthly to provide suggestions which are presented to district trustees. It is the duty of the Teen School Board president to bring top concerns to trustees at board meetings which are held the fourth Thursday of the month. This year's Teen School Board officers and the high schools they represent are:
President—Rosalinda Ruiz, Skyline High School
Vice-President—Allene Walker, South Oak Cliff High School
Second Vice President—Timothy Walker, Jr., Carter High School
Secretary—Kiljuana Kyles-Kimball High School
Leadership 2000 Chairpersons—Anabel Vega, School of Government Law and Law Enforcement at Townview and Anthony Houston, Carter High School
Service Project Chairperson—Valerie Montoya, North Dallas High School
Banquet Chairperson—Danny Villa, Adamson High School
