DISD Looks To Hire At Least 150 More Teachers at 2 Job Fairs, Nov. 18 and Dec. 9
The Dallas Independent School District plans to hire at least 150 more educators to join its workforce of 10,180 schoolteachers. As the second largest school district in Texas, DISD is responsible for the education of more than 161,700 schoolchildren.
The district will host two job recruitment fairs to try to fill the approximately 150 teaching vacancies. The first fair is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Moisés E. Molina High School, 2355 Duncanville Road. The last job fair of the year will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at César Chávez Learning Center, 1710 North Carroll.
At both job fairs, candidates must go through a screening phase before they are granted an interview with the campus principals. The screening process is from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Prospective applicants must have a minimum bachelor's degree with a 2.5 grade point average. Job fair participants should bring references, transcripts and teaching certificate or college letter of recommendation for certification.
After the screening phase, applicants who qualify will be interviewed by school principals. The interview phase is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Principals are looking for teachers in all areas. However, the district continues to offer special incentives to teachers who hold certificates in early childhood (PK-K), math, bilingual education, Spanish, science and special education. The incentives include a stipend ranging from $500 to $3,000 depending on the teaching area.
With competitive salary packages, the average based teacher salary is at least $45,400. Beginning teachers salary starts at $33,000.
