WHAT: DISD General Superintendent Dr. Mike Moses and Board President Roxan Staff will join Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson at the 2001 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday observance.
The event will feature performances by Dallas Independent School District students, including the district's Jubilee Choir and the Elementary All-City Honor Choir, Greiner Exploratory Arts Academy Chorus, Madison High School Concert Choir, the Kimball High School Chamber Choir, the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts Concert Choir and the North Dallas High School Vietnamese Fan Dancers.
WHEN: Thursday, January 11, at 7 p.m., Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1819 North Washington Ave.
WHY: For several years now, the Dallas schools have hosted this event and invited the community to participate. Parents, administrators and community leaders gather to enjoy the talented performances of district students in an evening of music and cultural enlightenment.
NOTE: The theme for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday on January 15 is "Remember! Celebrate! Act! A Day On, Not a Day Off!
