Engineering Fair 2001 To Promote Technology To Dallas Public Schoolchildren
Who: More than 600 students of the Dallas Independent School District will attend the Engineering Fair 2001 that is hosted by Southern Methodist School of Engineering. At the fair, students will be joined with local engineers as they attempt to design the computer for 2010. The middle and high school-aged students also will have the opportunity to visit more than 10 displays and exhibits sponsored by local high-tech companies, showcasing the future world of technology.
While the students are designing the computer of the future, teacher, counselors and parents will attend a session on Preparing Children for Careers in Engineering and Technology.

Why:
With the theme of Designing the Future, the engineering fair is to encourage schoolchildren to consider careers in science, math and technology. The fair is sponsored in conjunction with the 50th annual celebration of National Engineers Week in February.Note: The engineering fair is sponsored by the DISD, SMU School of Engineering, Texas Instruments, Accenture and the Infinity Project.
