The Dallas Independent School District has set dates for enrollment of children who will be 4 and 5- years-old when school begins for the next school year.
Prekindergarten and Kindergarten Roundup provides parents an opportunity to visit the school, meet the teachers and get tips on how to help their children make an easy entrance into a new school environment.
To enroll in a prekindergarten program, a child must be at least 4 years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year and meet any one of the following criteria:
• Unable to speak and comprehend the English language; or• Come from a family whose income, according to standards set by the State Board of Education, is at or below the subsistence level established by the State of Texas and according to federal guidelines; or
• Eligible for homeless services.
Kindergarten students must be at least 5 years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year to be eligible for enrollment in the kindergarten program. Parents must have one of the following documents to enroll their child--birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport or a hospital certificate.
