For Principals Only Brunch

Who: Nominated by their peers and community, 20 principals from Dallas Independent School District Areas 4, 5 and 6 have been invited to participate in the second round of the MetLife Principal of the Year Competition. Three principals will be selected to represent Areas 4, 5 and 6 at a For Principals Only Brunch scheduled for Friday, March 23.

The nomination criteria included leadership management, community relations and communications skills. The brunch will be hosted by former Dallas Chamber of Commerce Chairman Albert Black.

When: Friday, March 23, at 10:30 a.m. OnTarget, 1133 South Madison MapscoŽ key 54C

Why: To recognize and reward outstanding principals in the Dallas Independent School District.

Note: In the fall, three principals in Areas 1, 2 and 3 were recognized in the MetLife Principal of the Year Competition. Those principals are Zulema Murrillo, Julius Dorsey Elementary in Area 1; Halice Furtado, Daniel "Chappie" James Learning Center in Area 2; and Nancy McLaughlin, Woodrow Wilson High School in Area 3. All of the area principals selected are eligible to compete in the final round of the MetLife Principal of the Year Competition. Area winners and MetLife Principal of the Year will be announced in June. Among the prizes, the Principal of the Year for DISD will receive two round- trip tickets to anywhere in the United States.
