Arts Magnet School Design Competition Finalists To Be Announced

WHAT: The names of the architectural firms selected to develop design proposals for the proposed expansion, renovation and rebuilding of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts will be announced tomorrow.

WHEN: At 10 a.m., Thursday, March 29, in the Experimental Theater, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, 2501 Flora Street.

HOW: In 1998, the Futures Facilities Task Force for the Dallas Independent School District identified the school for facility renovation/expansion. With grant money from the National Endowment of the Arts, supplemental funding from DISD, the school's Advisory Board, the Dallas Architectural Foundation, community patrons and others, the school launched an international request for qualifications competition earlier this year. More than 80 architectural firms worldwide submitted design proposals.
