DISD Students Host National Youth Crime Prevention Conference April 7-10
About 110 Dallas Independent School District students will be among the 2,200 young people from across America converging on the City of Dallas April 7-10 for the 14th National Youth Crime Prevention Conference at the Adam's Mark Hotel.
The mission of the conference is to teach students and adults to focus on crime prevention in schools and communities, as well as to explore new solutions to reducing crime, said Susie Bell, Prevention Specialist for the Dallas Independent School District. "The activities at the conference are geared to create an awareness of how young people can assist in crime prevention," she added. "They will learn strategies and skills to implement youth-led crime prevention service projects. This conference will inspire these young people to do something in their communities and to share their experiences."
The seminars are designed to provide students with the tools for crime prevention activities. Among the more than 150 sessions scheduled are School Safety; Drugs and Alcohol; Hate Crime and Cultural Diversity; and Crime and the Law.
