Special Education Topic Of Public Hearing April 19

A public hearing will be conducted Thursday, April 19, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at nine Dallas high schools to provide the community an opportunity to give input and suggestions regarding improvements needed in the district's special education program. The hearing is being held as an essential component of plans being developed by the district under requirements of the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

Participants are invited to give their written comments on several areas of the district's special education program. No presentation will be made. Sign interpreters and bilingual assistance will be available at most sites to aid participants who need these services.

Among the topics for comment are—Assessment, Communication, Facilities, Least Restrictive Environment (students going to home school), Related Services, Service Delivery (ARD/IEP process and implementation), Transition (including post graduation), Training, Transportation and others. Participants are invited to attend the location which is most accessible.
