The Dallas Independent School District is offering extended year services for more than 20,000 schoolchildren who need to recover credit, advance their studies or enrich their learning experience. The "Quest for Excellence" 2001 Summer School and Enrichment Programs will be offered at 54 elementary schools, 14 middle schools and 11 high schools.
The dates and times of program operations are as follows:
Elementary Classes: June 5-28, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for accelerated and TAAS programs, 8 a.m. to Noon for enrichment programs
Middle School Classes: June 6 to July 18, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
High School Classes: June 6 to July 18, 7:30 a.m. to 1:05 p.m.
For DISD students in grades K-8, eligible students will have the opportunity to participate in the summer school program at no cost. However, DISD students in grades 9-12 are required to pay a non-refundable $70 per course fee. In addition to the non-refundable $70 per course fee, non-DISD students will also be required to pay a non-refundable $200 enrollment fee.
Transportation will be provided for elementary and middle school students who qualify for service and for high school students on established routes. For additional transportation information, contact your local campus.
The DISD Food & Child Nutrition Services Department is sponsoring a Summer Food Service Program. Children may receive a free breakfast and lunch at designated sites.
