In partnership with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Dallas ISD is taking advantage of a grant that will allow the TCEQ to sample all drinking fountains within the district for lead. Once this grant has ended, Dallas ISD will resume the original water testing program. Please feel free to reach out to the EHS department at (972) 925-5192.

The Dallas Independent School District (ISD) is committed to providing a safe, secure learning environment for our students. In 2016 Dallas ISD began testing the water quality at all of our campus locations. Any devices found to have elevated levels of lead were either replaced, filtered to correct the issue, or taken out of service.

The Dallas Independent School District has established a water testing program for the entire district. On an annual basis, one-third of the district will be tested, resulting in every school being tested once every 3 years. Currently, there are no laws or regulations mandating the testing of drinking water in educational facilities. Regardless, the Dallas ISD has chosen to implement a testing schedule in order to provide a safe and healthy environment for our students, staff, and community.

If you have questions, or would like to receive more information regarding results at your child’s campus, please contact Dallas ISD’s Environmental Health & Safety department.
